COTTON or NYLON LYCRA - Leotards & Activewear
All cotton or nylon lycra garments should be hand washed in warm or cold water and allowed to drip dry. Constant machine washing can cause pilling of the material making it appear 'bally'.
Cotton or nylon lycra should never be tumble dried or dried near direct heat as this could break down the elasticity of the garment, or cause shrinkage. Cotton or nylon lycra should not require ironing, but if ironed, an ironing cloth should be used between garment and iron.
SKIRTS
All voile, chiffon and georgette skirts should be hand washed in warm water and allowed to drip dry.
Voile, Chiffon and Georgette are delicate fabrics and should not be tumble dried. All skirts may be dry cleaned. Warm Iron only should be used.
Poly/cotton Character Skirts may be machine washed on a gentle cycle and spun dry. Poly/cotton may be tumble dried and a warm iron may be used.
TUTUS
We do not advise washing tutu's, however if you must wash your tutu -
It may be dry cleaned or hand washed in cold or warm water and allowed to drip dry upside down. Starch may be required to re-stiffen tulle skirt, as this will most probably go soft and floppy after it has become wet.
Tutus should never be tumble dried or dried near direct heat.
Warm Iron only on tulle. Nylon lycra or Satin body should not be ironed.
BALLET SHOES
We do not recommed constant washing of your shoes as it will reduce their life.
Canvas ballet shoes can be cold hand washed (friend, napisan liquid or mild soap can be applied to the fabric to help remove staining with gentle rubbing). Shoes should then be rinsed thoroughly and left to dry inside - do not dry outside as this can cause fading. Shoes should not be placed in hot water or tumble dried as this will cause the cotton canvas to shrink.
Leather ballet shoes can be painted with one of the shoe touch up products we have available.
