Sansha Shoe Sizing:
Jazz - every size is ½ size - ladies 8.5 street shoe (6 UK) = approx Sansha 10 jazz shoe. We will add a shoe chart shortly.
Pointe Shoes:
Require a fitting if they are your first pair, or if you are changing brands. Please make an appointment to have a pair fitted for your length, width and shape of foot.
SMART DANCEWEAR - because these products are made in New Zealand they tend to fit the size on the label.
For example
A childs size 6 fits a standard 6 year old. (Age tends to be the size you require, until we get to the teenage years..)
Dance pants can be ordered in Regular or Long length - for those willowy children who fit a size for width, but always end up with 3/4 pants when they are supposed to be long... The same applies with adults range.
Adults jazz pants are slimmer through the hips and smaller waist to fit the shape of a womans body. Childrens dance pants are still tapered at the waist, but a straighter fit to follow the shape of a childs body. Our jazz pants don't give the Bob the builder look - they have a V Front, which sits just under the tummy button, and the band at the back comes just on the kidney area - so they sit just on/below the waist at the back.
Adults XS = tall 12/14 year old or ladies 6-8

shoe fittings -
FOOT PATTENS
If requested we will supply shoes based on a Foot Pattern if you are unsure of your shoe size. Although we are very experienced at this process and will make every endeavour to choose the best fit for you, this is not 100% accurate. It depends also on the thickness of the foot, the accuracy of the drawing and personal fitting preferences. Should further sizes be required the customer will be liable for any further freight charges incurred.
It is very important that when making a foot pattern that great care is taken so that we can get the best fit.
Step 1: Place your bare foot onto a blank piece of paper.
Step 2: Get someone else to draw around your foot carefully - ensuring the pen remains upright so that the drawing does not overestimate the size of the foot.
Please use a normal ball point pen as pencil and felt tip do not work well.
Step 2: Draw a line from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel and measure the longest distance. Draw a line across the widest part of the foot and measure the distance. Write both measurements on the drawing as sending by fax sometimes alters the dimension slightly.
Step 4: Repeat the process for your other foot.

WIDTH
This is sometimes shown as A, B, C, D, E, EE, where A is the narrowest fitting. Width can also be N, M or W for Narrow, Medium or Wide.
In pointe shoes this can also be M, W ,X, XX, XXX
M meaning narrow or A fitting,
W meaning narrow/medium or B fitting
X meaning medium or B/C fitting
XX meaning medium/wide or C/D fitting
XXX meaning wide or D/E fitting
LENGTH
Our shoes are sourced from all over the world therefore also come in USA, UK, Australian and European fittings. Please do not be alarmed if you are a size 3 in one brand but an 8 in another - some shoes go up one size for every 1/2cm (in NZ this is the equivalent of a 1/2 size).
Please remember if the fit is not to your liking there is no issue with returning the shoes and swapping them for another size. We are here to make your dancing a happy and pleasurable experience.
